Another sad day today (Friday 16th February, 2001), when I had to make the decision to have Minty, my other best mate for 14 years, put down. He had deteriorated over the last week, wasn't eating and lost a lot of weight. The vet thought it may have been kidney or liver failure. Blood tests showed it wasn't but showed a high level of something else (can't remember the fancy name). An ultrasound was conducted and there was a 8cm cancerous growths. He had pepped up slightly being on an intravenous drip, but was expected to deteriorate if removed. As the only option that may have helped was chemotherapy, I decided against it as I have seen what it does to humans. I made the torturous but humane decision to have him put to sleep while not in excessive pain

Like George, he was purring his load purr, like he always did, to the end.

Rest in peace with your brother George.
